Geography

"The study of geography is about more than just memorizing places on a map. It's about understanding the complexity of our world, appreciating the diversity of cultures that exists across continents. And in the end, it's about using all that knowledge to help bridge divides and bring people together." Barack Obama

“Geography underpins a lifelong ‘conversation’ about earth as the home of humankind” Geography Association

At Primrose Lane, we aim to provide our students with a comprehensive understanding of the world around them, whilst fostering a sense of curiosity, critical thinking, and global awareness. Our Geography curriculum incorporates traditional elements of geography, such as understanding 'what, where, and why', providing a solid grounding in fundamental geographical concepts. Additionally, by encouraging our students to ask more complex questions that reflect the challenges facing the planet, we empower them to think critically about global issues and develop a sense of responsibility towards sustainability and the climate crisis. We equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate an increasingly complex and interconnected world. Through our Self Designed Geography curriculum, we strive to inspire a lifelong love for learning and a deep-seated curiosity and appreciation about the world around them.

Our vision for the subject is to spark curiosity, promote critical thinking, and develop a sense of global awareness. We aim to cultivate a passion for exploration, discovery, and understanding of the diverse landscapes, cultures, and environments that make up our planet. We believe that a well-rounded education should encompass a deep understanding of the world and our place within it. Our Geography curriculum plays a crucial role in achieving these aims by providing students with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to become informed, responsible global citizens.
